LES MILLS GRIT™ is 30 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training. HIIT is short rounds of high-intensity exercise followed by periods of recovery. The basic recipe is to go as hard as you can, rest, and then repeat.

Why? Because it works.

The secret to ultimate fitness and results is not in adding volume, but intensity. LES MILLS GRIT™ workouts are best served on top of some base fitness and other moderate intensity exercise. HIIT is hard core, so keep your GRIT sessions to 2-3 times a week (maximum) as part of a wider fitness diet.

LES Mills Grit FAQs

HIIT – WHAT IS IT?

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is short, intense bursts of effort followed by periods of recovery. It’s the intervals that allow you to keep reaching your max effort training zone.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HIIT?

You burn calories for hours after your workout.

9% more fat loss and 17% more effective than your standard aerobic or “steady state” training.

You get fit fast: 30 minutes is all it takes.

WHEN SHOULD I INTRODUCE HIIT TO MY TRAINING?

HIIT workouts get the best results when you have a good base level of fitness; and alongside other moderate-intensity resistance and cardio training.

WHO IS LES MILLS GRIT SUITABLE FOR?

LES MILLS GRIT is recommended for people who already have a good base level of fitness and want to take their results to the next level.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE IN LES MILLS GRIT WORKOUTS?

LES MILLS GRIT Strength uses barbells, weight plates and bodyweight exercises to make you strong, toned and unbelievably fit. LES MILLS GRIT Plyo uses a bench and weight plates for explosive agility training to build a lean and athletic body. LES MILLS GRIT Cardio uses bodyweight exercises with a focus on speed and intensity to rapidly burn fat and improve your cardiovascular fitness.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Show up. It’s that simple. Show up a little early so you can let your coach know that it’s your first LES MILLS GRIT workout. Don’t be shy to work at your own pace and stop when you need to. Your coach will help out with technique and show modifications that cater to all fitness levels.

WHAT IS THE COST?

GRIT classes will be offered at The Gathering Place in two ways:

1. As a regular fitness class.

If it's on the group fitness calendar, it's priced the same as other fitness classes. $3 for GP members or $4 for non-members or it's included with a monthly FLEX or FLEX Plus pass. See info about Flex passes here.

2. During GRIT Challenge sessions.

Periodically we will pull GRIT from the regular fitness calendar and offer the classes as a special intensive series! For the CAMP GRIT Challenge, participants will pay one fee for all the GRIT classes offered over a several week session. There will be increased camaraderie and accountability during CAMP GRIT, and you will be amazed at how much further you can go with others. More info is coming soon!

IS LES MILLS GRIT SAFE?

All LES MILLS GRIT workouts are designed with set exercises that have safety and science at their core. They’ve all been tried and tested for safety and results. If you have any specific health concerns, check with your doctor before doing a LES MILLS GRIT workout.

I’M PREGNANT. CAN I STILL DO LES MILLS GRIT?

No, women are advised to reduce their exercise intensity during pregnancy so high-intensity interval training is not recommended. We suggest talking to your doctor if you have any more questions about exercising while pregnant.
