The Lee Taft Speed Academy has teamed up with The Gathering Place at Community Church of Greenwood with one common goal: to meet the physical, mental, social, and spiritual needs of young athletes.
Nearly three decades ago, Lee Taft, known professionally as "The Speed Guy" embarked on a journey to be a leader for positive change in the future of young athletes. This change included improving the athleticism of young athletes, how coaches and trainers approached youth athletic development, and the culture that surrounds youth development. His mission was to create awareness that our approach to developing our youth should consider the physical, emotional, and mental age of the athlete. Often, our young athletes are treated as adults, resulting in nagging injuries and total burnout. Lee follows a sound Long Term Athletic Development approach. His training is a process that includes a system of building from a sturdy athletic foundation of sound fundamentals of movement.
Lee wants everyone to know LTSA is not a place to ‘workout.’ It is a training academy that develops lifelong athleticism. For this reason, athletes who are interested in joining will be required to commit for 12 week sessions. In the early years of the LTSA, it was common to have 90% of all athletes commit to training consistently, multiple times per week for months. This explains why so many of his athletes have very low injury rates, tremendous improvement in sports performance, and seamlessly used their skills to advance to the college level or an adult healthy lifestyle.
The Lee Taft Speed Academy is owned and operated by Lee Taft. He and his wife, Jenn, the director of business and marketing, have three children. Jae is a freshman at Olivet Nazarene University and plays for the Lady Tigers basketball team. Bailee is a sophomore at Greenwood HS and participates in varsity basketball and tennis. Brennen is a 2nd grade homeschooler who plays football, basketball, and just about any sport there is to try.
If you are ready to Train. Commit. And Advance, then you are ready for LTSA.
