the totally fit life

Amanda Sofranko joined TFL in May and is excited about the changes in her life. We asked her about the highlights of her experience.

What brought you to TFL?

Well CCG did. I have always struggled with my weight. I would always say oh I'm going to start Monday, and that never totally came! We started going to CCG. I love how they value that the body is a temple and we need to treat our body how God would treat his. So sitting in service week after week I kinda felt sad that I had let myself get this way. I would be out of breath going up stairs.

I feel like I finally saw myself as overweight. I was that girl who would say, "I'm big and beautiful," but now I don't want to say those things. I am beautiful! I'm not where I once was but I'm not where I want to be. One weekend they had GP passes for one week free, and then I saw this Total Fit Life thing. Boot camp starts it off, and you have this accountability with 3 other team mates and daily exercise! I looked into it as much as I could. It was like God was telling me, Amanda you need this if you're going to change your life. So I signed up! I was very nervous. It made me think of gym class of how they did things! But attending I found out the people are so amazing! They made me feel very welcome and like I can really do this! Still feels like gym class but I love it!

How has TFL changed your life?

TFL has changed my life in so many ways! Making me stronger spirituality. Learning the importance of my daily time with God. I trust God so much more. Everything is His timing. I have learned to let things go. I really enjoy working out now! I've learned that my body is just on loan from God and it is my responsibility to take care of it the best way that I can. So now I'm careful about what I put in my mouth and don't over indulge on the special treats that I do allow myself to earn. I do my best to work out six days a week and try to have Sundays for church and rest.

Now I don't look at what I'm doing as dieting. I feel like it's just my daily life. Having the accountability really helps to keep me focused. I love the people I have met on this journey. My favorite quote that someone told me was "You're just sick and tired of being sick and tired." I love it and I was! I know and feel like it is possible to get where I want to be–it will just take time and work. I feel so much better and look so much better! One thing I like is not weighing myself. That can be a vicious cycle. I do love weighing and measuring after the end of each 70 days–kinda exciting!

Something I'd like you to know is don't be afraid of change! Change happens all the time. It may not be fun, especially in the beginning. But getting to where you want to be, or just being happy and healthy knowing that you're a better you and a better disciple walking like Christ is awesome. If I can do it you can do it!

Thank you Amanda for sharing your thoughts about TFL and the exciting things God has helped you change in your life.
